  • Scott Schaefer


    Senior Pastor

    Scott is our Senior Pastor and has served here since April, 2000. Scott’s spiritual gifts are teaching and shepherding. Scott and his wife, Connie, were married in 1980, and Scott has been serving in pastoral ministry since 1984. Scott and Connie have three children. Jared, their oldest is married to Amy and they live in Colorado Springs, where Jared is an auto-mechanic and drummer at his church and Amy teaches ballet. They have two daughters and a son. Their second son, Jeff graduated from college locally at Southwestern College and is married to Molly, and they live in St. George, Utah as part of a church plant, focusing on ministry of the Word and worship music. Jeff works as a barber, and Molly stays at home with their daughter and son.  Scott and Connie's daughter, Kelsi, graduated from Moody Bible Institute and is in Dubai, UAE married to Kieran, who is a native of Ireland. 


    Scott enjoys his five grandchildren, cheering the Nebraska Cornhusker football team (his college alma mater, where he became born again) helping others grow in God’s Word, and spending time with his bride, Connie. Scott has an M.Div. from Grace Theological Seminary (1985).

  • Christena "Chris" Edgington

    Awana Ministry Director (formerly commander)

    Chris has served in the Awana ministry for over 35 years. She has been married to her husband Larry since July of 1978. They have three married daughters; and five grandchildren. All three of their daughters earned their Awana "Timothy" Awards as children! 


    Chris lives in Douglass, KS where she is a Paraeducator at Seal Elementary. Chris graduated from Calvary Bible College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Local Church Education. Her passion is teaching children, especially the truths that matter for eternity.

  • LaTonya McGathy

    Head Secretary

    LaTonya joined our secretary staff in August 2015! She has been married to Chad McGathy since July of 2006. They have three children, a son, Aceon, 14 years old, a daughter, Ella, 10 years old and another son, Declan, 2 years old.. LaTonya has been involved in Awana serving as the Awana secretary since 2015. She also oversees the Children's Ministry by doing scheduling and the annual Children's Christmas Programs! Additionally, she organizes other church events such as family dinner and movie nights!

    Her spiritual gifts are singing, hospitality, organizing, and decorating.


    She enjoys tennis, bike riding, hanging out with friends, crafts, movies, music, singing, piano playing and spending time with my family.

  • Shelly Willis

    Secretary

    Shelly  joined our secretary staff on January 23, 2019.  She has over 25 years experience working as a church secretary.  She has been married to Dennis Willis since May of 1988.; they have one grown daughter, Allie.   Her spiritual gifts are serving and giving.


    She enjoys reading and taking walks.

  • Brent Hogue

    Head Janitor

    Brent joined the staff of CBF as head janitor in February 2011. He has associate degrees as a machinist and draftsman. He enjoys Bible studies and has the spiritual gifts of discernment, encouragement and hospitality. He also enjoys contra-dancing, Christian retreats and revivals, eating out with friends, old-time hymn sings, being outdoors and manual labor, traveling and is a people person.

  • Tim Evans

    Janitor

    Tim joined our staff as our janitor in February of 2011. Tim grew up on a  goat farm. The Evangelical Free Church of Winfield has been his home since he was two years old. He was active in the Awana program and received his Timothy award. He was also a member of the Visual Truth mime troop for eight years.
